Harbor cruise ship hits 2 boats
BOSTON (AP) – A Boston Harbor Cruises catamaran struck two small pleasure crafts that were anchored in the harbor, causing minor injuries to four people, the Coast Guard said on Sunday.
The accident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday and involved the Nora Vittoria, one of Boston Harbor Cruises’ larger catamarans that carries up to 400 passengers.
Three of the four people aboard the smaller crafts were treated and released from South Shore Hospital. Jeff Crispo of Quincy remained there Sunday and was in fair condition, a hospital spokesman said.
The cruise company’s general manager, Alison Nolan, confirmed the vessel’s involvement in the accident but would not comment further, citing the Coast Guard’s ongoing investigation.
The company and the Coast Guard said there were no passengers aboard the Nora Vittoria.
Conn. storms cause outages
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) – Severe thunderstorms that ripped through the state Sunday afternoon left thousands of residents without power, and complicated repair efforts for crews still trying to fix problems from Friday storms in Fairfield County.
At the outage peak, more than 22,000 Connecticut Light & Power customers were without service. The worst outages were in South Windsor, New Canaan, Wilton, Stamford and Westport. The utility dispatched crews to repair the problems, most of which were being caused by broken utility poles, downed trees and wires.
“Our crews are going to be out there all night all over the state,” Mitch Gross, a CL&P spokesman, told WVIT-TV.
Late Sunday, more than 3,246 customers were in the dark.

N.H. sex offender back in prison
LACONIA, N.H. (AP) – A convicted sex offender from Loudon is back in prison for violating the terms of his probation.
Robert Joyce, 44, was originally convicted of molesting a young boy during a three-year period. He served one year in jail and was placed on probation for five years.
His parole officer says Joyce violated his probation by getting kicked out of a treatment program, hiding pornographic magazines in his home, moving without permission and living with someone who had a criminal record.
Joyce pleaded guilty and will serve one to six years in the state prison.
