GORHAM – Megan Benevides blasted in the game-winning goal with 6:59 remaining in overtime period to lift Gordon College to a 1-0 decision over the University of Southern Maine on Thursday afternoon.

Benevides tallied her goal when she recovered the deflected ball in front of the goalmouth.

The Fightin’ Scots (2-2) outshot Southern Maine 18-6.

Sadie Garnache-Poirier was strong in goal for the Huskies’ (1-1) effort, making 11 saves. Justene Larnerd and Caterina Riitano were both credited with solid defensive efforts.
