SOUTH PARIS – Caitlin Crockett led a trio of players on offense as Oxford Hills cruised past Morse 3-0 in a KVAC field hockey matchup on Thursday.
Tiera Durgin and Timela Eells also tallied for the Vikings (1-2) to complete the scoring. Aleksys Pike made 11 saves in net to record the shutout.
Danielle Fontaine and Courtney Guth combined for 18 saves in net for the Shipbuilders.
Messalonskee 6, EL 0
AUBURN – Lauren Blake tallied two goals as Messalonskee dominated Edward Little with a 6-0 victory in KVAC field hockey action on Thursday.
Abby Churchill, Amanda Barker, Lindsay Begley, and Samantha Newman each added a goal to the Eagles’ (3-0) effort. Newman scored her goal off a penalty stroke. Ashley Currier was credited with two assists for the win.
Messalonskee held the edge in both corners, 8-6, and in shots on goal, at 20-14. Beth Ridley turned away seven shots to preserve the shutout.
Lawrence 7, Lewiston 0
LEWISTON – Lindsay Hoak and Mallory Blakney each tallied a pair of goals as Lawrence rolled past Lewiston, posting a 7-0 win in field hockey action on Thursday afternoon.
Heather Stevens added a goal and two assists, while Heather Gilmon and Lindsay Mestieri each chipped in with a goal for the Bulldogs (3-0).
Lewiston (0-3) buckled down in the second half of the contest, allowing only two goals. Katie Grant turned away 44 shots for the effort.
Soccer
G-NG 2, Poland 1
POLAND – Jen Farynaz scored on a direct kick with 15 minutes remaining in regulation to lift Gray-New Gloucester to a 2-1 victory over Poland in WMC girls’ soccer action on Thursday.
Cailin Monaghan also tallied for the Patriots (1-2), while Emma Labozzo made 11 saves in net.
Brianna Pratte scored the Knights’ (0-3) lone goal with 10 minutes remaining in the second half. Paige Piper and Melanie Cloutier combined for 13 saves in net for Poland.
Leavitt 1, MCI 0
PITTSFIELD – Tiffany Poland converted a pass from Caroline Bochtler to score the game-winning goal, lifting Leavitt to a 1-0 win over MCI in girls’ soccer action.
Bochtler passed the ball inside the penalty circle, where Poland picked it up, and hit a hard shot to beat the goalie and score.
The Hornets (3-0) saw solid defensive play from Beth Ames and Jenny Poland.
Kristin Schrepper and Jessica Vickerson split goaltending duties for Leavitt, combining for 12 saves.
MCI (1-2) goalie, Courtney Howe turned aside 15 shots for the Huskies.
