BIDDEFORD – Ashley Marble and Megan Myles each drained 16 points as the University of Southern Maine topped the University of New England 75-56 Tuesday evening.

Marble posted 11 of her points in the opening eight minutes of the contest and also had a game-high eight rebounds.

Angela Santa Fe came of the bench to notch a career-high 12 points in 15 minutes of playing time.

The Huskies (8-0) were aggressive defensively, forcing 33 turnovers, while holding a 35-27 advantage on the glass.

Alli Gamache made three 3-pointers and finished with 12 points to pace the University of New England (4-4). Essie McKinnon contributed 10 points and seven rebounds.

Men’s basketball

USM 73, UNE 68

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Josh Daniels scored 14 points and Foster Oakley added 12 to lead Southern Maine as the Huskies took a 73-68 non-conference victory over the University of New England on Tuesday evening.

The win was the third straight for the Huskies (5-3), who travel to Salem State on Saturday.

The Nor’easters (3-5) conclude first-semester play on Thursday when they play host to Mount Ida College.

UNE chipped into a sizeable Southern Maine lead in the second half and drew even at 62 thanks to an Isaac Stickney 3-pointer.

After the two teams traded free throws, Southern Maine went on a 7-0 run to take control.

Maine 64, Dartmouth 55

PORTLAND – Ernest Turner drained 21 points Tuesday night to lead the University of Maine to a 64-55 victory over Dartmouth in collegiate men’s basketball action.

Rashard Turner chipped in 16 points and six assists for the Black Bears (3-6), while Olli Ahvenniemi, Chris Bruff and Phil Tchekane Bofia added nine each.

Mike Lang led Dartmouth (1-3) with a 12-point performance, while Leon Pattman and Jason Meyer tallied nine points each.

Maine held a narrow 30-27 advantage at the halftime break, then sealed the victory in the second half, sinking eight of 16 from the field and 17 of 19 from the charity stripe.
