FARMINGTON – Steve Wells poured in 16 points to pace Mt. Blue to a 62-20 romp over Lawrence in KVAC boys basketball action Tuesday. Isaiah Braithwaite chipped in for the Cougars (1-1) with 10 points, while Art Trask added eight.

Josh Doyen led the Bulldogs (1-1) with a five-point effort, while Curtis Bixby contributed with four.

Mt. Blue held a 26-8 advantage at the half, then cruised to a convincing win.

Maranacook 79, Oak Hill 36

WALES – Mike Poulin and Ryan Martin netted 15 points each Tuesday to pace Maranacook to a 79-36 rout over Oak Hill in KVAC boys hoops action. Bryce Spalding chipped in with 12 points for the Black Bears (2-0). Mike Eaton led the Raiders (0-2) with a 13-point performance, while Nate McDonald tallied seven. Maranacook held a commanding 50-27 advantage at halftime and put the game out of reach in the third quarter.

Oxford Hills 43, Erskine 31

SOUTH PARIS – Chris McVety drained 12 points and posted seven rebounds as Oxford Hills rolled past Erskine to a 43-31 win Tuesday evening.

Assisting McVety’s effort was Ben Ryerson with 10 points for the Vikings (2-0).

Erskine (0-2) was paced by Nate Haskell with five points and five rebounds, while Jack Garrity chipped in with five points as well.

Freeport 42, Gray/New Gloucester 40

GRAY – With four seconds remaining, Kelso Davis scored the game-winning basket to lift Freeport to a 42-40 win over Gray/New Gloucester Tuesday.

Danny Mehler tallied 18 points to lead Freeport (2-0) to their victory. The Falcons overcame a 40-40 tie with four seconds remaining after Elliott Townsend fed Davis with the score. Both Townsend and Davis contributed eight points a piece.

The Patriots (0-2) effort was paced by Jordan Hebert with 11 points and Chris Bennett with 10 points.

Wiscasset 64, Monmouth 51

MONMOUTH – Matt Hinkley netted 20 points to lead Wiscasset to a 64-51 victory over Monmouth in a MVC boys’ basketball matchup Tuesday night. Curtis DeCosta chipped in for the Redskins (2-0) with 18 points, while Matt McRae added 13.

Nate Armstrong led the Mustangs (0-2) with a 16-point performance, while Ben Seefeldt tallied 14 and Scott Ogden added seven. Wiscasset held a 30-25 advantage at halftime, then went on a 22-18 run in the third quarter on the strength of several three-pointers.

Lewiston 46, Mt. Ararat 41

TOPSHAM – Jared Turcotte scored 12 points Tuesday as Lewiston edged Mt. Ararat 46-41 in a KVAC boys’ basketball matchup. Jon Fournier chipped in for the Blue Devils (2-0) with nine points, while Joe Stachiowiak added five.

Adam Paine led the Eagles (0-2) with a game-high 23 points, while Josh DiBattista tallied 12, the only other player in double digits. Lewiston trailed by five at halftime, then got fired up in the second half with Turcotte leading the charge.

Carrabec 68, Jay 59

NORTH ANSON – Brandon Coutts netted a game-high 36 points as Carrabec defeated Jay 68-59 in boys’ basketball action Tuesday evening.

Dan Estes added 14 points and 13 rebounds, while Nick Manzer chipped in with 12 points and 15 rebounds for the Cobras (1-1) win.

The Tigers’ (0-2) were led by Brad Loon who tallied 31 points, 16 of which were in the first quarter. Loon was silenced in the third quarter where he was held scoreless by the Carrabec defensive effort.
