WILMINGTON, Vt. – Officials of Rock Maple Racing (RMR) have announced plans to host the “Woody’s Challenge,” a $5,000-to-win special event held annually by the respected manufacturer of traction and control products. The Woody’s Challenge will coincide with RMR’s annual Northeast Snocross Championships, slated for Jan. 7-8, 2006 at the Franklin County Fairgrounds in Malone, N.Y.
This is the first time the prestigious Woody’s Challenge will be run as a snocross race. Since its inception, the Challenge has been held as a drag event. The 2005 edition was scheduled to be run in Seneca Falls, N.Y., yet had to be canceled due to rain.
Riders participating in the Woody’s Challenge will run a series of qualifying heats, just as they would in a regular RMR event weekend. The top 16 riders in qualifying will comprise the “Sweet 16,” setting the field for a high-stakes, high-drama final round. This race will see riders pull out all the stops as they battle ski-to-ski for that big purse and bragging rights.
Rock Maple Racing is now in its 14th year of sanctioning snocross competition. RMR offers a 10-race Central series which covers Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont; a five-race RMR East series for Maine and New Hampshire-based teams; and a 10-race RMR West series for New York and Pennsylvania-based teams.
