CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Katie Whittier poured in a game-high 22 points to lead the University of Maine to a 78-68 victory over North Carolina A&T in collegiate women’s basketball action Thursday in the Hurricane Holiday Classic.
Ashley Underwood chipped in for the Black Bears (3-6) with 18 points, while Bracey Barker added 10.
Kira Tillman led North Carolina A&T (0-9) with 21 points.

St. Joseph’s 63, USM 62
GORHAM – One point in the first half was all that separated St. Joseph’s from the Southern Maine on Thursday evening, as St. Joe’s edged the Huskies 63-62.
The Monks (4-3) led 26-25 at the half, and then played USM even in the second. Alexander Marcus led St. Joe’s with 17 points, while Noah LaRoche added 11.
The Huskies (5-5) had four players in double digits, led by Walter Phillips with 14. Josh Daniels and Bill Hardwick chipped in with 13 apiece, while Andy Frost added 12.
Azusa Pacific 96, UMM 57
MACHIAS – Demario Butler and Colton Cornfoot led a group of five players in double digits with 12 points each as Azusa Pacific University rolled past the University of Maine at Machias 96-57.
Charled Calligan led Maine-Machias (1-7) with 21 points.
, while Moti Kardish tallied nine and Jeremiah Johnson added eight.
