RANGELEY – Justin Gallant scored 21 points to lead Rangeley to a 51-45 victory over Greenville in a Class D boys’ basketball game Saturday afternoon.

The host Lakers (4-1) led by one point entering the final quarter, but limited Greenville (1-3) to 10 points in the final eight minutes to slowly pull away.

David Raymond chipped in with 10 points for Rangeley. Joe Gardin dropped in 13 points to pace Greenville.

Greenville 49, Rangeley 35

RANGELEY – Senior guard Hannah Breton recorded 16 points to lead Greenville to a 49-35 victory over Rangeley in girls’ basketball action Saturday.

The Greenville Lakers (3-1) jumped out to a seven-point lead after the first quarter, 16-9, but the lead shrank to four points after three quarters.

But the Rangeley Lakers (4-1) ran out of steam in the fourth quarter, sinking another 10 points behind Greenville before the final buzzer. Senior guard Nicole Crupi led Rangeley with 10 points in the loss.

Senior center Beth Bartley chipped in with 14 points for Greenville.

Win-Dale 3, Leavitt 2

HALLOWELL – Mike Fleischmann scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner, to lift Win-Dale to a 3-2 win over Leavitt in the final contest of the Founder’s Cup Holiday Tournament at the Kennebec Ice Arena on Saturday.

Corey Maillet scored the first and third goals of the game to put Leavitt up by one on each occasion.

But the Icedogs were resolute in the third period, shoring up their defensive effort and preventing all 12 shots from entering the space between the goal posts. Goalie Tavis Hasenfus made 25 saves in the winning effort.

The game-winner by Fleischmann came on a steal from behind the net and a wrap-around while the Icedogs were short-handed.
