CAPE ELIZABETH – Freshman forward Ben Randall scored the game-winner in the sixth minute of overtime to give St. Dom’s the edge in a thrilling 8-7 victory over Cape Elizabeth in hockey action Monday evening.
The Saints (3-1-1) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period.
Senior center Tyler Martin had a hat trick, while senior wing Alex Pleau contributed a pair of goals for the Saints.
Down by two after two periods, the Capers collected three goals to the Saints one in the third period to force an overtime frame. But, Randall spoiled the Caper’s comeback bid six minutes later.
Andrew Gibson and Kyle Dancause recorded a pair of goals each for the Capers.
Goalie Brady Blackman had 35 goals for St. Dom’s, while Jon Newell suffered the loss with 25 saves in net for Cape Elizabeth.
