NEWCASTLE – Ryan Martin dropped in 22 points and swiped five balls as Maranacook cruised past Lincoln 70-49 in KVAC action.
The undefeated Black Bears (11-0) trailed 33-32 at halftime, but turned up the defensive intensity, outscoring the Eagles 38-16 over the final two quarters.
Wil Bardaglio had 16 points and seven steals, and Kevin Leary chipped in with 11 points and six rebounds for Maranacook.
Devon Peaslee lead Lincoln (5-6) with 12 points. Gared Stailing had eight points, and Luke Alley scored seven.
Buckfield 59, Greenville 47
BUCKFIELD – Jeff Bennett poured in 17 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, while Jamie Henderson chipped in with 12 points, nine rebounds and four steals to lead Buckfield to a 59-47 victory over Greenville in WMC basketball action Monday.
Justin Dodge also reached double digits with 11 points for the Bucks (4-5).
Joe Jardine had 17 points, including two 3-pointers, to lead the Lakers. Keith Aucoin added 12.
Telstar 66, Carrabec 54
NORTH ANSON – Sean Caddigan scored a game-high 21 points, including three buckets from beyond the 3-point line, and the Rebels pounded the glass in the second half as Telstar pulled away from Carrabec 66-54 in MVC play.
Max Meader chipped in with 10 points for Telstar (6-5), who erased a 10-point deficit at the half with strong rebounding after the break. The Cobras were limited to three points in the third quarter.
Brandon Coutts sparked Carrabec (2-9) with 18 points, hitting four 3-pointers. Nick Manzer added 15 points, and Dan Estes had 11 points.
Wiscasset 60, Jay 51
WISCASSET – Junior forward Curtis Decoster dropped in 20 points to spark Wiscasset to a come-from-behind 60-51 triumph over Jay in MVC boys’ basketball action Monday.
The Redskins (6-5) turned up the heat in the fourth quarter, forcing numerous turnovers that led to some easy hoops. Junior forward Matthew McRae recorded 12 points and nine rebounds in the win.
The Tigers (2-9) were paced by senior center Nick Gulliver, who scored a game-high 20 points, while senior forward Brad Loon contributed 15 points.
Mountain Valley 93, Madison 48
MADISON – Andy Shorey poured in 22 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to power unbeaten Mountain Valley to a 93-48 victory over Madison in MVC basketball.
Marcus Palmer finished with 13 points to go with seven boards and six steals, and Byron Glaus chipped in with 13 points for the Falcons (11-0).
Tom Steuber scored 18 points to lead the Bulldogs, and Randy Bishop and Sam Wagg each had seven points.
Hockey
Win-Dale 6, Massabesic 0
BIDDEFORD – Mike Fleischmann scored two goals and added an assist to lead Win-Dale to a 6-0 victory over Massabesic in a high school hockey matchup on Monday.
Mike St. Pierre added a goal and an assist for Win-Dale (5-3).
Win-Dale dominated the game, outshooting Massabesic 52-9. Josh Grant stopped all nine shots to earn the shutout for Win-Dale.
