lewiston – A speeder used a ruse Monday to avoid getting a ticket. Now, however, the driver faces a possible second charge: eluding an officer.
The car was pulled over by police on Main Street about 4 p.m. Monday. Police let the driver go after being told the speeding was the result of a “medical emergency.”
Police Sgt. Dan Lachance said Monday evening that when police checked the hospitals, they learned the driver hadn’t been admitted.
Police were searching for the driver Monday evening, Lachance said.
