NASHUA, N.H. (AP) – The former Canterbury woman who made headlines over the summer because she was charged with running away with her teen lover and her 8-year-old son is back in jail, charged with stalking the teenager over the weekend.
Jennifer Malone, 32, was free on bail on a kidnapping charge when she contacted him.
One of her bail conditions was that she stay away from the teenager, but authorities said she drove to a construction site where he was working and spoke with him on Saturday. A member of the teenager’s family tipped off police.
Malone was arraigned Monday morning in Nashua District Court, via a video hookup from the Hillsborough County jail. A judge set bail at $10,000 on the stalking charge and set a trial date of Oct. 30. Prosecutors had asked for $50,000 bail.
In June, Malone was accused of taking her son and the teenager, now 17, to Florida, where she was arrested. She was originally charged with one count of interfering with child custody, but the charge was upgraded to kidnapping.
Malone’s son was returned to Canterbury to live with his father, Rodney, and another brother.
The Malones have been divorced since August, according to Rodney Malone. Jennifer Malone now lives with her mother in Farmington.
