WHAT’S NEW? The University of New Hampshire is establishing an organic dairy herd to conduct research into organic dairy techniques. It’s the first major agriculture school in the nation to do so.
WHY? The market for organic products is growing and becoming more profitable, students are demanding organic farming classes and organic farmers welcome any research to help them.
WHERE IS THIS HEADED? More researchers are studying organic techniques and more colleges are offering courses and majors in organic techniques. The USDA also is putting up more grant money for organic research.
