EAST HAVEN, Conn. (AP) – A fiery crash on Interstate 95 late Tuesday killed a 20-year-old man and shut down part of the highway for hours.
State police said a box truck hit the rear of one car which then struck several others before bursting into flame.
The driver of the burning car was able to escape, but a passenger, David Delbuana of Northford, was killed, police said.
State Department of Transportation officials said the accident near exit 51 shortly before 10 p.m. forced a shutdown of all southbound lanes between exits 48 and 51.
Several other people were injured and information on their condition was not immediately available.
