ROCKPORT – Dr. Michaella Maloney and Dr. Sandip Prasad were married on Sept. 24 at the Samoset Resort in Rockport.

The weekend celebration began on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the blessing of the bride in the North Samoset room, followed by lunch at Marcel’s overlooking the ocean.

The blessing of the bridegroom was celebrated at 4 p.m. at the Prasad residence, followed by the rehearsal dinner at 7 p.m. at the Whitehall Inn in Camden. Priest Kalyan Sundaram officiated at the Hindu ceremonies.

The bride first wore a traditional red and gold silk wedding sari, then changed into another traditional green and white silk sari, both gifted to her by the bridegroom’s family. The bridegroom wore two traditional silk and gold kurthas.

The couple was escorted to the mandapa by their parents. The wedding took place at 2:30 p.m. at the Bay Point Ballroom, followed by cocktails at the Samoset Resort. The reception dinner was held at the Knox County Ballroom.

The bride changed into an ivory strapless wedding gown decorated with taffeta embroidered flowers, for the reception. The couple honeymooned in Cabo San Lucas in Mexico.

The bride is the daughter of Angela and Gerald Maloney of Turner. She is a 1995 graduate of Leavitt Area High School. She received her bachelor’s degree from Harvard University in 1999 and her medical degree from Duke University Medical School. She is a surgical resident at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.

The bridegroom is the son of Drs. Suseela and Leela Prasad of Northbrook, Ill. He is a graduate of Loyola Academy in Wilmette, Ill. He received his bachelor’s degree from Harvard University in 1998 and his medical degree from Duke University Medical School. He is a surgical resident at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
