DURHAM, N.H. (AP) – The University of New Hampshire has told its two finalists for the job of president that they’re both out of the running.

The school said in a news release that it still expects to have a new leader in place by the start of the next academic year. J. Bonnie Newman will continue to serve as interim president until a replacement is found.

The new president will replace Ann Weaver Hart, who left this year to become president of Temple University in Philadelphia.

The finalists were announced last month. They were Jack Burns, a former vice president for academic affairs and research at the University of Colorado System; and John Cavanaugh, president of the University of West Florida. They visited UNH this month.
