EPSOM, N.H. (AP) – Early church-goers on Route 4 will have a detour on Sunday. The town’s 145-year-old Baptist church is being moved more than a half-mile down the road.

Plans are for the road to be closed for five hours, from 5 to 10 a.m., so the building can be moved from its current spot to its new home next to the new town library. If the weather is bad, they will put the move off for a week.

Residents voted at a special Town Meeting this month to have the town accept ownership of the vacant building. It will be moved because the new owner, Cumberland Farms, is building a gas station and convenience store. The church will become part of a new town office complex.

The move caps an 18-month effort to save the building. Supporters raised about $100,000.
