OSSIPEE, N.H. (AP) – Prosecutors say a ruthless stalker should remain behind bars while he awaits trial.

Carroll County prosecutors said Greg Jacques, 34, of Conway, has a history of domestic violence, theft and assault and that his former girlfriends lined up to get restraining orders against him. They also say he sexually molested a 6-year-old girl.

Prosecutors want Jacques held on high bail until his trial, arguing he had a friend threaten a witness against him and that he has guns in his home.

Jacques faces five counts of aggravated sexual assault, two counts of being a felon in possession of firearms, one count of witness tampering and two counts of breach of bail.

But his lawyer says the charges all rely on testimony from one witness – Jacques’ estranged wife – and that she accused him of child molestation to gain an advantage in their divorce.
