CONCORD, N.H. (AP) – Workers at the Concord-Merrimack County SPCA shelter say seven cats they were caring for died recently. They suspect tainted food involved in the massive nationwide cat food recall.

Shelter worker Hope Bourdeaux says some cats died at the shelter. Others died just after being adopted.

Nearly 100 brands of cat and dog food have been recalled. Most were produced at a plant in Kansas.

Before the recall, cans of food were donated to the SPCA by residents of surrounding communities. Since the deaths, the shelter has thrown out cases of food, so now it’s asking for donations to help buy more food for its animals.
