MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) – An 81-year-old woman who hit a 7-year-old boy riding a scooter and dragged him beneath her car last September won’t face charges in the accident.

Last week, Hillsborough County prosecutors said Magella Houle did not have enough time to react when Thomas “T.J.” DeFrancesco rode his scooter into the road in front of her and there was no criminal negligence on her part.

The accident left the boy with serious injuries to his face and head. His mother says he still faces several operations to repair his skull.

DeFrancesco was told he can’t play Little League baseball this spring. But as consolation, he will throw out the first pitch at the New Hampshire Fisher Cats’ opening home game on Thursday.
