LITTLETON, N.H. (AP) – Town official said they’ve settled a lawsuit with a local group that sued over the closure of the historic Littleton opera house.
The watchdog group, Littleton Citizens for Growth with Common Sense, had challenged the town’s decision to close the Opera House, which housed the police department. The state fire marshal condemned the opera house as a fire hazard in 2005.
The watchdog group wanted the town to fix the building. But the town wanted to move the police and other offices to another location.
Both sides said last week that they’ve agreed to end the lawsuit but didn’t provide details.
Frank Porfido, chairman of the group, says the settlement ends a “long hellacious fight.”
