PAUL SMITHS, N.Y. (AP) – The body of a second Paul Smith’s College student who died after falling into an Adirondack lake from a pair of capsized canoes was recovered Sunday by police divers.

The body of Sean Cornell, 20, of Manchester Center, Vt. was found at about noon, said college spokesman Kenneth Aaron. Cornell was among six students dumped into Lower St. Regis Lake when their canoes overturned late Friday night just off shore from the campus deep in the Adirondack Mountains.

Four of the students made it to shore about 100 feet away. Divers searching for the two missing students this weekend found the body of Lee Walker, 18, of Enosburg Falls, Vt., late Saturday afternoon.

“Our entire community is deeply saddened by this loss,” said John Mills, the college’s president. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of both these young men.”

Mills helped lead a “community gathering” of about 900 people Sunday honoring the two dead students.

State police are investigating the cause of the accident.

Paul Smith’s enrolls about 850 students and offers degrees in natural resources, forestry, hospitality, recreation, business and biology.
