PEMBROKE, N.H. (AP) – A Pembroke couple is alive today, thanks to their son-in-law, who rescued them from their burning home during the weekend.
Frank McClintock was watching TV Saturday night in his in-laws’ mobile home when he saw a glow coming from their bedroom, fire officials said.
When he looked in, he saw the bed on fire.
McClintock woke Virginia Johnson, 59, and Russell Johnson, 72, and got them out of the burning home.
The fire swept through the mobile home quickly, fueled in part by several medical oxygen tanks used by Mr. Johnson.
Investigators believe the fire was started by a cigarette.
