TAMPA, Fla. (AP) – A small plane made a successful emergency landing Monday afternoon after its landing gear didn’t fully extend.
The twin-engine plane circled Peter O’Knight Airport on Davis Island several times before the pilot, Peter Kendal, landed safely. The plane landed on its rear wheels and slowed down before the nose touched down. The nose landing gear collapsed, and the plane skidded to a stop with its nose on the runway.
Officials said Kendal and a co-pilot were the only two people on board.
The plane, which flew out of Tampa, was registered to Recore Trading in Derry, N.H. But the company’s owner, Donald Belisle, told WMUR-TV that he sold it 10 days ago to a Tampa man. Belisle said he never had any trouble with the landing gear in the eight years he owned the plane.
