TEMPLE – Two puppet shows for children of all ages will be performed at Temple Stream Theater. They are a hand puppet mystery by professor Ben T. Matchstick titled “Who Is Mister Mysterious?” and a rod puppet drama by Temple Stream Theater Director Michael Romanyshyn called “Pinky Stinky.”

Performances will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 8.

“Pinky Stinky” is an original story and a part of a new work called “Walking Stories” by the Temple Stream Theater. Walking stories is a walker’s perspective of the world. The main character is a walker alternatively played by the narrator and a rod puppet. He travels through landscapes and through history, seeing people’s lives and the stories that shape their world view. Some of these stories are tales; some are real events.

“Pinky Stinky” is the story of a mean skunk that lives outside of Farmington. She wreaks havoc at birthday parties, weddings and town meetings. The peak of her trouble-making results in a mass exodus from town. Alone and unhappy, she is saved from a life of loneliness by an owl health practitioner.

Matchstick, visiting from the Cardboard Teck Instantute in Montpelier, Vt., will present “Who Is Mister Mysterious?” In this cardboard circus, part-time detective and cardboard technician Ben Matchstick takes the case of the elusive Mister Mysterious. Children interact to solve puzzles, find clues and pinpoint locations. The show is performed with hand puppetry, a one-man band and some hilarious cameos. Matchstick will crack the case, and crack audiences up in the process.

As always, pizza from the Temple Stream Theater’s wood-fired oven will be available starting an hour before the show. For more information, call 778-2513.
