LEWISTON – On Saturday, May 26, the Catholic Church in Lewiston will celebrate its 150th anniversary with a choral concert at St. Patrick’s Church on Bates Street. The celebration in song is a cooperative effort and will incorporate the talents of musicians from all five Lewiston parishes and several out-of-town parishes.

Scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m., the concert is being presented on the Feast of Pentecost, the birthday of the church.

The St. Cecilia schola cantorum will present works by Palestrina, Stainer, Mark Sirett and John Knight. The Basilica Choir will perform compositions by Vaughan Williams, Handel, Rutter, Holst, Mozart, Schram and Harper. There will also be a soloist and some hymn singing.

Admission is free. The concert is open to people of all faiths.
