BRUNCWICK – “Voices in the Mirror,” an original show written, produced and performed by high-school actors, will open Friday, June 1, and run through Sunday, June 3, at The Theater Project.

This is the 11th annual production of “Voices,” which over the years has proven to be a favorite of both audiences and participants.

Developed by teens from Brunswick, Topsham and Freeport, “Voices” is a collection of short theater pieces that reflect a teenager’s view of the world, with topics ranging from peer pressure, dating and grades to politics and gender issues. The cast develops the play using theater games and improvisational techniques, taking an honest and intelligent look at the world around them – but always finding the humor in every situation.

“I always look forward to working on ‘Voices,’ ” said director Wendy Poole. “It’s a very special show to me and the Young Company. All year long, they tell me they can’t wait for ‘Voices’ to start. It sums up the work we do here at The Theater Project. It lets them explore. It lets them create. It lets them be who they are.”

The show is recommended for teenagers and up. Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. June 1-2 and at 2 p.m. June 3. All tickets are pay-what-you-want with a suggested price of $10. For reservations or more information, call the box office at 729-8584, or visit the theater at 14 School St.
