AUBURN – Twenty-two colorful images of New England by photographer Jennifer Lane, including a plethora of native flowers and plants, fill the Art & Ale display window at Gritty McDuff’s in the downtown.

“We arranged to show this exhibit over a year ago, and my memory of Jennifer’s work had grown a bit vague. When she brought in her pictures, I was pleasantly overwhelmed. She has a lot of images, and they are all wonderful,” said Cheri Donahue, L/A Arts marketing director. “From a grasshopper on a sunflower, to some bunches of grapes on a vine, to a window full of stained glass, beautiful fall scenes, horses – and flowers, flowers, flowers. These images are the essence of New England.”

A Maine native, Lane lives in Lewiston with her husband, son and dog. She works as IT manager for a local bank.

Lane said her favorite artist is Georgia O’Keefe, who has been an inspiration behind the lens of her camera.

In the mid 1990s, Lane discovered a love for gardening and quite literally grew her own subject matter, making her photographs truly any New England garden.

Whether a backyard garden or a balloon festival, Lane sees the beauty of not only the end result, but the magnificence of the process.

The exhibit will be up through June 27.
