BRUNSWICK – The Oratorio Chorale will present its eighth annual recital, “It’s a Grand Night for Singing,” at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 3, at the United Methodist Church on Church Road.

Chorale members, past and present, will offer a varied and lively program that includes selections from opera, folk/rock and classical art songs from composers as diverse as Mozart, Handel, Schumann, Gordon Bok, Ives, and Copeland.

A new feature of the recital will be instrumental offerings by several chorale members, as they display their artistry not only with their voices but also with piano, violin, cello, and guitar.

Accompanist for many of the soloists will be Deana Ingraham Gurney, who holds a master’s degree in coaching and accompanying from the Westminster Choir College in Princeton, N.J. Since coming to Maine, Gurney has played with the Portland Symphony Orchestra, Portland Opera Repertory Theater, Portland Players, the Maine Gay Men’s Chorus, the Oratorio Chorale, and Women in Harmony.

Delmar Small of the Bowdoin College music department will also serve as accompanist for one of the soloists.

During intermission, the audience and singers will have a chance to chat, with refreshments provided by chorale members.

Donations will be accepted at the door; $10 is suggested. Contributions will go to the Carolyn Johnson Memorial Fund to benefit The Bridge School in Freeport.
