For some time the matter of dividing St. Peter’s Parish has been discussed by prominent members of the church, and several months ago an effort was made to bring about the desired results. More than once the bishop has been appealed to, and he has always responded encouragingly, saying that he believed the division as desired should be made.
The main canal will be the dividing line. The church, to be located in the vicinity of Lincoln Street, will include people on Main Street, below the canal, the entire length of Lincoln Street, and Cedar, River and Oxford streets – forming a parish of about 800 families or 4,000 souls.
