Mrs. A. Belliveau and son, E. Belliveau, are having the foundation laid for a five-story block on Lincoln Street that will consist of 15 tenements. It will be 100 feet by 33 feet and probably the longest tenement block in the state. The cost is estimated to reach $15,000. It is reported that the block will be ready for occupancy about the last of October.

Alderman Bolduc will start soon on an eight-tenement block on Lincoln Street. With an addition to the block on River Street owned by Mr. Blouin of four tenements, this means 24 new tenements will be built in that section of the city this summer.

• A section of Middle Street in Lewiston has “split open” in the vicinity of the Oak Street relief sewer construction project.

The crack in the street, resembling a fissure sometimes caused by earthquakes, starts near a junction pit dug by Samuel Aceto & Co. which is installing a giant sewer system. The crack runs in a northerly direction for a distance of some 50 feet or more.

• One fact emerges clearly as the road map season descends up us: You should be able to find Americans almost any place, except home, this summer.

The American Automobile Association took soundings today and reported that requests for trip information are running from 5 to 10 percent above last year.

Suddenly it’s summer. And the cool look of jewelry is better than ever. It accents summer whites and light-colored pastel fashions with a splash of class, says the Jewelry Industry Council.

There’s a bulky look to new summer jewelry that still manages to be lightweight. For example, a long dangling, gold-and-white hammered coin-style necklace paired with a shorter one, matching bracelet and drop earrings are a breezy combination that will go with everything you wear.

Another summertime favorite is smart nautical colored jewelry in mix-and-match red, white and blue.
