FARMINGTON – Jazz vocalist Leila Jane Percy, the Gerry Wright Trio and vocalist Birdie Katz will perform many classics of the big band era, including songs by Cole Porter, Irving Berlin and Hoagey Carmichael, Friday, June 22.

The performance will start at 7:30 p.m. in Nordica Auditorium at the University of Maine at Farmington.

A graduate of UMF and now a member of the Maine Legislature, Percy first performed in Farmington with Randy Bean back in the 1980s. Since that time, she has returned to Nordica Auditorium for audience-pleasing concerts at least four times, each time bringing with her first-class musicians.

The Gerry Wright Trio is made up of Gerry Wright on piano, Jim Howe on bass and Tony Shay on drums. Katz starred in “Peter Pan” at the Waterville Opera House in 2005, and was Dee Dee in the Maine State Music Theater’s production of “South Pacific” in 2006. This fall, she will make her debut at the Theater at Monmouth in the role of the queen in “Once Upon a Mattress.”

The concert will be ASL-interpreted by Sherry Walrath.

Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for senior citizens and $3 for children under 16. There will be no advance ticket sales. For more information, call 645-2157.
