LEWISTON – L/A Arts’ Gallery 5 will host its first Artist Talk from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 14. Featured artists are Susan Broadbent, whose work was most recently exhibited in the Area Artists Biennial at L/A College; and Richard Dahlquist, an art teacher in the Auburn school system.

Broadbent has a bachelor of fine arts in illustration from Syracuse University and has been featured in many juried exhibitions. Her desire is to create work through the challenge of realism that encourages dialogue.

Dahlquist has a bachelor of fine arts in painting from the University of Oregon and has exhibited in the Portland Museum of Art Biennial and many Old Port collaboratives. After many years of painting, he is now focusing on sculpting large hand-built vessels and painting in collaboration with Broadbent, something they have been doing since 2003.

The two will talk about their pieces in the Gallery 5 exhibit, as well as the process of collaborating on a piece of art.

Advanced reservations are required for all Artist Talks with a $5 donation. Call 782-7228. Gallery 5 is at 49 Lisbon St. It is open to the public, during exhibit dates, from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday; from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday; from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and by appointment by contacting the curator, Tammie Grieshaber, at gallery5@laarts.org, or 576-4805.
