LITCHFIELD, N.H. (AP) – A rescue worker responding to a car crash discovered that the badly hurt victim was his own mother.

Police said the 77-year-old woman was turning onto Route 3A from her senior citizen condominium complex Wednesday when her car was broadsided by a pickup truck. Litchfield firefighters called for help from Londonderry and were just pulling the woman from the wreckage when her unsuspecting son arrived.

He accompanied her to the hospital, where she was in stable condition.

The president of the condominium complex said there have been four accidents there in the last eight months.
