BRUNSWICK- Maine State Music Theatre will host Luke Yankee’s one-man show “Diva Dish,” a funny tribute to Yankee’s famous mother, Eileen Heckart, Monday, June 18.
“Diva Dish” is also a collection of dirt and gossip about some of the biggest stars in showbiz, including Ethel Merman, Paul Newman, Joan Crawford, Bette Davis, Marilyn Monroe, Mary Pickford and Debbie Reynolds.
Yankee is an actor, director, author, teacher and master storyteller. His recent book, “Just Outside the Spotlight,” is a look at his relationship with his mother and their life together as a showbiz family. “Diva Dish” is a live version of that publication, which utilizes rare photographs, video clips and stories to take audience members behind the scenes of some of their favorite movies, plays, and television shows.
Whether describing how Merman taught him how to make a martini, or reviewing Newman’s skills as an acting coach, “Diva Dish” is sure to share something that audience members never knew about their favorite leading men and ladies.
“Diva Dish” will be presented at 7:30 p.m. at Pickard Theater on the Bowdoin College campus. Tickets are $28, $22 and $15. Call the MSMT box office at 725-8769, or log on to www.msmt.org.
