CONCORD, N.H. (AP) – A Kingston man already convicted of attempted murder now faces federal allegations he siphoned more than $1.6 million dollars from his daughter’s trust fund.
David Burns, 42, is serving at least 18 year in prison for trying to kill his girlfriend. But before he reported to jail, prosecutors say Burns spent more than $1 million dollars on his friends and court costs.
The trust fund belonged to Burns’ daughter, who has cerebral palsy. A jury awarded Burns’ daughter $1.7 million in a medial malpractice suit that alleged doctors mishandled her birth and caused brain damage.
Burns faces wire fraud charges. He is due in federal court on Wednesday.
