BRUNSWICK – “A Bold Brush,” an exhibit featuring new paintings by husband and wife Charles Movalli and Dale Ratcliff, is showing at Bayview Gallery at 58 Maine St., through July 7.

Movalli earned a Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut and has painted and written about art for more than 30 years, including 25 years as a contributing editor to American Artist magazine. He edited nine art books for Watson-Guptill Publications. Although he works primarily in acrylic, he is a Signature Member of the Oil Painters of America and was honored with their Lifetime Achievement Award in 1991.

Ratcliff’s award-winning marine paintings are characterized by lively brushwork and strong design. She enjoys the challenge of painting en plein air, trying to catch the fleeting effects of light. Born in Medford, Mass., she graduated from the University of Maine and returns frequently on painting trips.
