SABATTUS – Comedian Bob Marley plans to spend most of this summer “upta camp,” which is great news for his fans in Maine. He has scheduled a series of performances that are all within driving distance of the cottage on Tripp Lake in Poland he shares with his wife and three young children.
“I was flying around the country and I just realized I could be in Maine having a blast, and be home at night,” Marley said. “We’re upta camp for the whole summer. I’ll go back out more nationally in the fall.”
Marley will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 28, at Mixers, 136 Sabattus Road. Tickets are $20. Call 375-4188.
Marley assures audiences they will hear new stuff. “I’m always writing, always working to keep it fresh,” said Marley, 40, who uses situational and observational material for his stand-up routines.
A Maine native, Marley recently observed his 15th year as a comic. He is one of the few comics to do the complete late-night TV circuit, including “The Late Show” with David Letterman, “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno, “Late Night” with Conan O’Brien and “The Late Late Show” with Craig Ferguson and Craig Kilborn. His first TV special, “Comedy Central Presents Bob Marley,” premiered in February.
A regular at the Aspen and Montreal Comedy festivals, Marley was named one of Variety’s “10 Comics to Watch.” He has also appeared in several movies, including the cult film “Boondock Saints.”
