NEW DURHAM N.H. (AP) – Police are trying to figure out who left a bloody pig’s head at the end of a resident’s driveway.

The resident made the gruesome discovery on her way to work Friday morning, police said.

“It looked like it may have been slaughtered in the last couple of days because there was fresh blood in the area,” said Chief Shawn Bernier.

Police said they have a theory but no leads. Bernier said police were looking into the possibility that the head was meant for a police officer who lives next to the home where it was left.

“I’ve never seen anything like this in my 19 years as a police officer in this town, never,” Bernier said.
