DUNBARTON, N.H. (AP) – Fire destroyed a barn but the owners saved the 11 horses inside.

Owner Sheri Nuanez and her fiance Keith Bernard received minor burns in the effort to save the animals Saturday afternoon. Nuanez says she was inside the house when Bernard yelled for help. She says he was hosing down a detached garage about eight feet from the barn, but the fire quickly jumped to the barn.

Bernard was taken to the hospital for treatment for a burn on his back but was later released. It took firefighters from a dozen departments about an hour and a half to put out the fire.
