BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) – An Avon man who avoided prison time in a child pornography case prosecuted by the state has pleaded guilty to the same crimes in federal court and faces up to 10 years in jail.
Federal prosecutors decided to pursue a case against 48-year-old Edward Burke after a state judge sentenced him to probation last year following his guilty plea to possessing child pornography. U.S. Attorney Kevin O’Connor said last year that he was “amazed” at the sentence.
Authorities say they found more than 300 images and videos of child porn on Burke’s home computer.
, including violent rapes.
Burke pleaded guilty to one count of possessing child porn in Bridgeport federal court on Tuesday. Judge Alan Nevas set sentencing for January 25.
Burke was released on bond pending sentencing.
