BOSTON (AP) – Federal prosecutors charged a Plymouth man with setting fire to a church in late 2005.
Caleb Uriah Lussier faces one count of defacing and setting fire to the New Testament Church in Plymouth and a second count of using fire to damage religious property.
The 21-year-old faces up to 20 years in prison for damaging religious property and a mandatory 10 years in jail for using fire to commit the felony.
Convictions on each of those charges also carries a $250,000 fine.
Damage from the fire itself was minimal, but officials say carpeting at the church was soaked with gasoline, interior glass doors were smashed and other objects were strewn in the hallway.
In October, Lussier pleaded guilty in Warren County, New York to committing arson as a hate crime for setting fire to the Christ Episcopal Church in Pottersville.
