GILFORD, N.H. (AP) – Police in Gilford, New Hampshire, say a woman wearing a wedding dress and with a bag of marijuana in her truck tried to escape from officers today and drove into a pond.

When Fish and Game officers and a nearby resident tried to rescue the woman from her sinking SUV, she was combative and bit the neighbor on the arm.

Forty-two-year old Toni Neville was eventually subdued and brought to shore. She was taken to the Laconia hospital and will be charged with reckless conduct, simple assault, driving after suspension and transporting a controlled drug.

Police say the incident began when Fish and Game conservation officers checked on Neville, who was parked alone by the Saltmarsh Pond. When they asked if she was OK, Neville became upset and then reached for a bag of marijuana. When an officer tried to grab the bag, Neville drove off, speeding around the parking lot and then into the water.
