FEDERAL WAY, Wash. (AP) – Family and friends of a Washington couple allegedly slain by a convicted killer from Massachusetts celebrated their lives at a memorial service Saturday.
Thirty-year-old Brian Mauck and 28-year-old Beverly Mauck were found shot to death at their home on November 17.
Neighbor Daniel Tavares Jr. has pleaded not guilty to a murdering them, allegedly in a dispute over a $50 debt. He could face the death penalty.
In July, Tavares was freed without bail by Superior Court Judge Kathe Tuttman on a charge of assaulting two prison guards in Massachusetts.
Former Governor Mitt Romney, who appointed Tuttman, has called for her resignation.
The obituary for the Maucks in the Tacoma News Tribune said they loved scuba diving, riding their Harleys, and the Seahawks, but most of all their family and friends.
