PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – A man has been convicted of first-degree murder for the execution-style killing of a woman in 2006.

Barry Offley was convicted Wednesday by a jury in Providence County Superior Court on eight counts, including conspiracy to commit murder, assault and weapons violations.

Prosecutors said Offley and his uncle, Alonzo Shelton, killed Jessica Imran and shot her friend, Julie Lang, in Imran’s apartment in Pawtucket in July 2006. Shelton was convicted in May of killing Imran.

Offley testified earlier this week that Shelton killed Imran. But Lang said Offley killed Imran then tried to shoot her, but his gun jammed. She said Shelton grabbed the gun and shot her several times.

The men were featured on “America’s Most Wanted” after the shooting and were captured in Florida.
