LACONIA, N.H. (AP) – A Moultonborough woman was sentenced on Wednesday to nine months in prison after admitting to stealing $75,000 from her mother while she was in a nursing home.

Candy Latour, 38, pleaded guilty to two theft charges and repaid part of the money before the sentencing.

Prosecutors say Latour used proceeds from the sale of her mother’s house, her retirement account and her monthly Social Security income.

Nursing home employees reported that they suspected the mother, Patsy Parker, was being exploited when Latour, who had control of her mother’s assets, could not pay for her care.
