SEBAGO – The Schoolhouse Arts Center will present “Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep,” an original play in one act written and directed by Jerry Walker of Standish and performed by teens, from April 10-13.
The play gives a poignant view of the struggles and challenges faced by teenagers. Some mature content may make this inappropriate for young children.
Raw, funny, painful and nostalgic, “Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep” is a poignant reminder of what it’s like to be a teen. Nearly 30 young actors from eight high schools breathe life into characters who struggle with everything from low self-esteem to unwanted pregnancy, as well as those who revel in good friendships and school success.
The cast includes Lynne Schabhetl of Bridgton; Catherine Mason of Buxton; Shannon Brenner of Casco; Andrew Deal of Cornish; John Roberts of Falmouth; Adam Mosey, Shannon Mosey, Molly Stewart and Clara Stickney of Gorham; Anna Berks, Liz Parmenter, Ben Plummer, Jacob Plummer and Becca Voinche of Limington; Sydney Walker of Naples; Jordan Holmes of New Gloucester; Calvin Moisan of Raymond; Sara Dodge and Samantha Komulainen-York of Standish; Ryan Biggs of Steep Falls; and Joanna Clark, Shane Giles,Austin Loukas, Ben Robinson, Alison Sample and Jessica Wood of Windham.
Thursday, Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday’s matinee is at 2 p.m. A special performance at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, will benefit Youth Alternatives.
