GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Jorge Abiague of the Portland Boxing Club won the National Golden Gloves championship with a unanimous 5-0 decision over Daniel Lozano of Tampa, Fla.

Abiague is the club’s second national champion, joining Lisa Kuronya.

On his way to the title, Abiague scored a second-round knockout over Henry Clay, then avenged a previous loss to reigning U.S. national champion Raul Lopez in the quarterfinals.

Abiague defeated Nebraska’s Johnny Determan in the semifinal.
