DIXFIELD – A story that appeared on page B1 of the River Valley edition on Wednesday, June 25, contained incorrect information.
Dixfield selectmen have yet to give fire Chief Scott Dennett permission to change the pay rate for Dixfield firefighters. The pay change will be discussed with the town manager after Dennett reviews call volume data and determines how the rate hike would affect his budget.
Dennett also suggested that the pay change may need to be implemented in a two-stage process.
A pay raise would be the first increase in years. Dennett’s estimate of $800 to $900 is to purchase an accident and sickness policy to supplement workers’ compensation, and would be covered by the current budget. It would also serve as a recruiting and retention tool.
The information was incorrectly reported by the Sun Journal.
