AUBURN – Auburn Suburban Little League 11 and 12-year-old softball all-stars reached the state championship game before falling 7-2 to Scarborough.
ASLL battled back from the consolation bracket after losing 9-1 to Scarborough in the opening game. Kory Norcross pitched a solid game and contributed a base hit. Ashlee Arnold had a base hit and scored the only run.
Auburn rebounded with an 11-1 rout of Calais. Arnold pitched a great game, giving up only four hits over the six-inning route. She also smacked a single and a double. Kennedy Hubbard belted a double and played great defense behind the plate the entire tounament. Emily Schario added two hits.
Hermon gave ASLL a tough scrap in Game 3 before Auburn puleld away for a 10-7 victory. Norcross gave another tremendous effort on the mound. Arnold whacked a single and a double. Amanda Williams clouted a triple, and Bayley Abendroth delivered a double.
Next up was a 21-7 rout of Kennebunk. Arnold struck out five hitters over five innings, helping her own cause with a single and a double. Williams belted out two singles and a triple. Norcross connected for a double and a single, and Schario had two singles.
Kelsey Butcher pitched the first two innings of the final before Norcross entered and allowed only one run in relief. Emily Bolduc, Kennedy Hubbard and Norcross strung together singles to plate Auburn’s pair of runs with two out.
Williams then lined out to the pitcher, who made a timely stab to end the game.
